Trotternish Ridge Race

On the 4th June 2022, UHI colleagues Alison Wilson and Jen Vanderhoven undertook the gruelling Trotternish Ridge Race. This trail race is a tough one! Alison and Jen ran 17 miles on steep (2000m of ascent!) and difficult terrain, on a route that required navigation skills, hill running experience, and a lot of endurance. The route went from Flodigary to Storr Lochs via Meal na Suiramach, Ben Edra and the Storr, on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Neither Jen nor Alison had attempted this ridge race before and this turned out to be an extra challenge on the day, with it being an uncharacteristically bright sunny day on Skye! With plenty of sunscreen on and drinking over 3L of water each, Jen and Alison finished this race together, having seen stunning views of Skye and with smiles still on their faces – well done!

Their fundraising page is still open, to read more about the challenge and to see some more photos: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jenandalison
